Last winter Shepard Fairey put up a couple of his signature posters in Northside. One of them is of Aung San Suu Kyi. I took some photos of the poster then and went back today to take a picture of the poster again in a personal celebration of Kyi’s release from house arrest. The poster weathered the summer pretty well and no one seems to have disturbed it or defaced it either.
This morning, before I got to the site, someone had added a tiny scrap of white paper to the poster with the time and today’s date to mark Kyi’s release from prison. I had thought of bringing flowers to place at the base, but the scrap of paper seems like enough.
